Shriver (Michael Shannon), a down-on-his luck handyman living in New York City whose never read a book in his life, gets mistaken for a famous
and famously reclusive writer and  brought to a university where he is to deliver a keynote address to save the school’s literary festival. With nothing to  lose, he accepts the invitation and soon finds himself surrounded by adoring fans and an English professor (Kate Hudson) who captures his heart. Shriver must do whatever it takes for his shot at love at this fish-out-of-water comedy. Based on the novel Shriver by Chris Belden.
