It is with great pride Roundabout Entertainment continues collaborations with American Zoetrope and Director Francis Ford Coppola. The restoration of One From The Heart (1982), supervised by Francis Ford Coppola, was mastered in 4K by James Mockoski, Film Archivist and Restoration Supervisor at American Zoetrope. The 4K scans were sourced from the original camera negative, and great efforts have been made to add thirteen minutes of original camera negative, restoring opticals and dupe negative. Also six minutes of IP were added to replace the original negative that was thought to be destroyed in a flood in Rome where the negative was kept. The restoration was approved by Francis Ford Coppola himself.

Roundabout’s own Vincent Pirozzi, Vice President of Mastering traveled to Venice, Italy to represent our team on this nominated restoration collaboration. The newly refined cut and restoration of this epic-scale musical One From The Heart (1982) a technical marvel and groundbreaking for production methods of the time. This is a tremendous opportunity for new audiences to enjoy the artistry of this visually stunning film, with it particuarly exemplified by the HDR grade.

Hank (Frederic Forrest) and Frannie (Teri Garr) have been together for five years, and the wrinkles are starting to show. On the eve of their anniversary, which falls on the Fourth of July, their gifts for each other expose the differences in their notions of the good life. Frannie wants a trip to Bora-Bora, while Hank wants to fix their fixer-upper home and, ideally, never leave. In a shouting match that results from their realization, they both admit some mild cheating, and Frannie leaves. Hank consoles himself with his buddy Moe (Harry Dean Stanton) and Frannie runs to best friend Maggie (Lainie Kazan), and suddenly their relationship looks like it’s over. Frannie meets Ray (Raul Julia), a waiter with dreams of stardom, and Hank becomes infatuated with street performer Leila (Natassja Kinski).

The adaptation is faithful to the book, which itself has been commercially successful, appearing on the New York Times bestseller list at the time.
